What to Expect at COP30

The Global Methane Hub (GMH) is looking forward to collaborating and convening governments, philanthropies, scientists, and civil society to advance collective action on methane in Belém. Over two weeks, we will participate in dozens of sessions and cohost the Super Pollutant Solutions Pavilion with the Clean Air Fund and the Super Pollutant Action Alliance.

GMH will continue its role as a catalyst and convener, building on the momentum of the year. From mobilizing finance to advancing national action, GMH along with its partners has set the stage for a decisive decade of climate progress.

Announcements:

Momentum Heading Into COP30:

  • Mobilizing finance for super pollutants: Earlier this year, GMH announced a $10 million investment in the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) to accelerate action on methane and other short-lived climate pollutants – one of the most effective investments to protect people and the planet.
  • Building global public support: A new GMH-commissioned survey across 17 countries revealed overwhelming global demand for stronger action on methane, underscoring that people everywhere want immediate solutions to reduce pollution and improve health.
  • Advancing agricultural innovation: The Time2Graze initiative, launched in September, is developing satellite-based systems to help farmers optimize livestock grazing—improving nutrition, boosting productivity, and reducing emissions.
  • Driving national implementation: GMH and the Government of Kazakhstan signed a landmark agreement to launch the country’s first National Methane Action Plan and establish a National Methane Office using satellite data to detect and cut major leaks.
