Nicolás is the senior program manager for waste and circular economy at the Global Methane Hub (GMH). At GMH, he coordinates the strategic implementation of the program’s grantmaking portfolio and leads engagement with grantees and ecosystem stakeholders to achieve the Hub’s mission of securing sharp, justice-centered methane emissions reductions.
With over a decade of experience across the public and nonprofit sectors, Nicolás’s expertise lies in advancing systemic climate solutions through research and policy advocacy. Before joining the Hub, he led research on organic waste management and soil health in the United States and Chile. His work was instrumental in passing Washington State’s Organics Management Act (HB 1799) and has informed subsequent state legislation on organic waste diversion.
Throughout his career, Nicolás held diverse roles in academia and institutional sustainability. He previously lectured on environmental engineering at the University of O’Higgins and led the Executive Secretariat of the University of Chile’s Committee for Sustainability.
Nicolás holds a bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering and a diploma in Chemical Engineering from the P. Catholic University of Chile and a master of Public Administration from the University of Washington.
Based in Seattle, he enjoys the rainy Pacific Northwest, where he can be found hiking, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends.
