Jessica Somerton

Jessica is a strategic operations professional whose career spans science, industry, design, and climate philanthropy.

At the Global Methane Hub (GMH), she works at the intersection of strategy and operations, strengthening the organization’s ability to execute by designing practical systems and shared processes that reduce complexity and support effective decision-making. Her work focuses on aligning ambition with implementation and ensuring initiatives move from concept to delivery.

Jessica earned her bachelor’s and master’s. in food science from North Carolina State University. She began her career working across academia and the dairy industry, where she specialized in sensory research and the measurement of human response. She later retrained in web and graphic design, expanding her ability to translate complex ideas into clear, accessible formats. This blend of scientific rigor, design thinking, and operational experience led her into science administration, and ultimately into the climate space.

She is based in New Zealand and enjoys experimenting with growing cut flowers, long walks, laughing at dog videos with her son, and the occasional cupcake.
