Chris is a scientist and research leader with extensive experience building international scientific partnerships and funding interdisciplinary research addressing critical environmental challenges.

At the Global Methane Hub (GMH), he serves as lead scientist, leading the organization’s data-to-action initiatives, driving cross-sectoral scientific efforts, and advising sector teams on key aspects of methane science. He works closely with grantees and partners to strengthen the scientific foundations underpinning GMH’s programs.

Chris spent the first part of his career in laboratory research, largely focused on environmental sensing, before transitioning to grantmaking in the U.S. government and international organizations. In the United States, he helped manage a program focused on reducing methane emissions from oil and gas facilities and contributed to projects on energy efficiency and agriculture. He later served as scientific manager for the Climate and Clean Air Coalition Oil and Gas Methane Science Studies at the United Nations Environment Program, collaborating with scientists across four continents. Most recently, working from the U.S. Embassy in Santiago, Chile, he funded conferences and research projects across Latin America, connecting researchers throughout the region.

Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Northwestern University. He is based in Washington, D.C.
