Alex is an environmental attorney and impact professional with over a decade of experience at the intersection of environmental policy, organizational learning, and technology-driven solutions for climate action.
At the Global Methane Hub (GMH), he strengthens the organization’s monitoring, evaluation, and learning practice, partnering with program teams to translate evidence into strategy and action. His work spans key performance indicator (KPI) systems and impact reporting, structured learning facilitation, cross-organizational learning initiatives, and supporting software creation for impact modeling and emissions tracking. He works on the development team while also working closely with program and operations teams to ensure insights inform decisions at every level.
Before joining GMH, Alex spent over eight years advising the Chilean Senate on environmental, energy, water, and mining policy, helping shape more than 20 environmental regulations, including landmark climate change and biodiversity legislation. He has co-founded and directed two environmental NGOs and led an academic research center focused on climate adaptation, managing teams of 30+ professionals and building multidisciplinary coalitions across public, private, and academic sectors. Throughout his career, he has applied technology to environmental challenges — from Internet of Things (IoT)-based conservation monitoring systems, to data infrastructure and low-code tools, to AI for knowledge management, capacity building, and network building.
Alex holds dual expertise in law and biological sciences from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and is based in Santiago, Chile.
