Today, in response to the Global Methane Status Report, the Global Methane Hub (GMH) released the following statement from CEO Marcelo Mena:
“Four years after the launch of the Global Methane Pledge, we’ve seen promising policy changes, deeper commitments from governments, and international cooperation to reduce methane pollution. The Global Methane Status Report illustrates that while there has been meaningful progress, the moment calls for more– more action, more quickly, by more communities, governments, and companies. COP30 is the COP of action.
We have critical components on our side for the work ahead. Public support for climate and methane action has never been stronger. We have the technology and real-time data to track and cut methane pollution at the source while continuing to grow our economies and strengthen our workforces. We need to leverage the momentum of bold, local climate actions that scale to global solutions. GMH is committed to accelerating action by governments, civil society, researchers, investors, and the private sector to develop and implement strategies that will catalyze rapid systemic reductions in methane emissions in the energy, agriculture, and waste sectors.”
